Retail stock and market-trader growth

Plan stock purchases around what customers actually buy and when they pay. Keep enough cash for business costs and household essentials. A working-capital discussion should use real turnover, stock records and existing obligations, not sales alone.

Local enterprise and Made-in-Rwanda productionSuggested assessment route: Local credit assessment

Who and what the project needs

Market traders, neighbourhood retailers and small wholesalers. Fast-moving stock; simple storage; transport; basic records; approved payment and account tools.

How repayment or affordability should be tested

Repay from gross profit converted to cash after expenses and owner drawings. Match tenor to the stock cycle; avoid financing obsolete stock.

Critical risks

Inflation can increase turnover while reducing margins. Slow inventory, customer credit and mixing household money can conceal a cash deficit.

What to prepare

Sales/purchase records; supplier terms; stock counts; expenses and debt schedule; realistic household drawings.

What to measure

Cash margin, stock-turn days, customer debts and on-time repayments.
