Incremental resilient home improvement

Plan a safe and affordable home improvement in stages. Roofing, drainage, ventilation, accessibility or other justified work should follow appropriate technical advice and the local approval process. Separate essential repair from speculative property development and understand the full repayment obligation.

Who and what the project needs

Eligible households and small property-service enterprises. Qualified design; materials; skilled labour; drainage/accessibility improvements; inspection and contingency.

How repayment or affordability should be tested

Use verified household income or existing, evidenced rental cash flow. Future rent from unfinished space is not certain income.

Critical risks

Unsafe building work, disputed tenure, incomplete budgets and floods or slope instability require attention before lending.

What to prepare

Site/tenure evidence; required approvals; technical assessment; staged quotation; household affordability and contingency.

What to measure

Safe completion of specified work, defect correction and affordability; not assumed property appreciation.
