Assess rehabilitation or replanting through site suitability, crop quality, buyers and the time until productive harvest. Separate short-term maintenance needs from a multi-year establishment project. Verify available programme support and protect household cash flow during the production gap.
How repayment or affordability should be tested
Match finance to the actual maturation period. Use independent income or approved patient funding; avoid routine monthly debt with no interim source.
Critical risks
Biological delay, weather, quality rejection, price changes and dependence on one buyer can compound. Targets for seedlings do not prove inputs are available to the applicant.
